Natalie Agee

Natalie Agee is a performer of most everything, from modern dance and hula hoop acts, to singing in stairwells, and circus tricks on lampposts. 

Recent collaborations include work with Adrienne Truscott, David Neumann's advanced beginner group, and C. Ryder Cooley. 

She has been creating work in New York City since 1995. Among the venues where her work has been performed are: The Kitchen, DanceSpace Inc. (now DNA), The Brooklyn Lyceum, P.S. 122, The Zipper Factory, Dixon Place, Judson Church, The Box, SomArts (San Francisco), Charm City Kitty Club (Baltimore), and many others. She has performed, choreographed, and taught in theaters, at festivals, and in schools and universities across the country.

She wrote songs and played guitar in a quirk-rock, electro-pop band called "n.a. + a.n.". You can get a copy of this original, super-dancable CD by clicking here.

She has performed in works by David Neumann/ advanced beginner group, Paige Martin, Andrea Ariel, D-9 Dance Collective, Llory Wilson's Talullah Dance Company, Joy Kellman, Leslie Partridge, Patricia Wolf, Sharon Fogarty, and Adrienne Truscott, among other independent choreographers.

Natalie is a founding member of Bessie and Obie award-winning LAVA, a Brooklyn-based performance group that blends dance, wrestling, theater, improvisation, and circus vocabularies. She performed with this group from 1997 to 2006.

Natalie has taught workshops and classes in Static Trapeze, Corde Lisse, Chinese Hoop Diving, Acrobatics, Handstands, Dance, Composition, Pilates-based Conditioning, and Injury Recovery/Prevention to people of all ages, and from all walks of life. Her classes focus on blending core strength connectivity, flexibility, mind-body awareness, and technique with live energy, radiance, and passion. Her teaching methods are an eclectic blend of many different movement techniques that she has studied throughout her lifetime within the realms of dance, kinesiology and circus.

She has been teaching in NY since 1997.

She founded and directed two independent studio spaces in Brooklyn: Ruby Streak Trapeze Studio (2003-2008), and The Velveteen Rainbow Studio & Performance Space (2009-2012). These spaces gathered together a warm, community of inter-disciplinary artists, students, collaborators and friends. In an atmosphere, where positive energy abounded, people participated in group classes, private training, rehearsals, and creative experiments. These spaces allowed students and professionals, alike, the opportunity to share their work in all stages of development. Championing diversity, individuality, and the invention of new vocabularies, were at the heart of these studios' work in the world.
